Wedding Trend For 2011!

We are always looking at the new trends in candy for the new year and are VERY happy to find that Edible Wedding Favors are said to be the new wedding trend for 2011!  There are many suggestions out there on how to make this happen!

*Get boxes or bags custom made with your wedding date and names to use as the favor container.  Or choose a favor container the goes along with your wedding decor and style.  Some great examples are a formal groom tuxedo, white weeding dress card stock container, monogrammed boxes or cellophane bags.  For the extra formal affair what about placing the favor in an enchanted carriage, silver chair or mini take-out box.

Which ever container you choose be sure to fill it with delicious little goodies!  We would suggest M&M's, Hospitality Mints, Jelly Belly Dutch Chocolate Mints, Lollipops, Retro Candy…I could go on and on!!

What ever your candy taste or your decor style, Southwest Candy has what you are looking for to make your wedding extra special!  And your guests will love it too!

Something Different For New Year’s Eve!

I was just searching around for something different to do for New Year's Eve and had no idea that in Flagstaff, AZ there was something a bit famous going on!  Frommers.com even reviewed it!  Have you heard of the Flagstaff Pine Cone Drop?  Neither did I!  But it sounds like a blast!

New York City may have its famous crystal ball, but Flagstaff has its giant Pine Cone!  A huge six foot Pine Cone drops from the Weatherford Hotel at 10pm and Midnight!  This event started New Year's 1999 when they wanted to ring in the New Millennium with something different and the event just stuck! Now the Pine Cone is 6 ft tall and 5 ft wide and lights up beautifully!

What a fun Arizona way to ring in 2011!  Don't forget to have your stash of candy with you to sweeten up the New Year!

Christmas Ornament Hunt!

Images

Yet another idea I wish I had thought of first!  My niece's went to a great party where they used Christmas ornaments kinda like Easter Eggs.  The hosts hid ornaments all over the front and back yard and let the kids run wild looking for them!   Some of the ornaments were huge and some smaller, but all had great colors and will be a spectacular addition to any holiday decor!

Don't forget about candy as a little added reward when the kiddos find the ornaments!  Southwest Candy still has a wonderful variety of festive candy for your event!

It’s Thanksgiving Time Again!

What is Thanksgiving time like at your house?  Well, I'm happy to say that I just learned my husbands favorite holiday is Thanksgiving at my parents house!  I was very happy and shocked to hear that actually.  But as I started thinking about it we do have a pretty fun Turkey Day every year!

Last year it was even better when my sister came up with the brilliant idea to get a bouncy house for all the kids!  That kept them busy and happy while we got everything ready for the big feast!  So while the kids are bouncing and the mom's are cooking….the husband's are watching football and snacking on yummy appitizers scattered around the house!  It really isn't a sexist thing…our husbands are just not allowed in the kitchen after an incident a few years ago:)  So I guess that is why my husband loves Thanksgiving so much at my parents house.  It's simply all about yummy food, football and family!

This year I am going to sweeten the deal with some special candy for the occassion!  They don't know it yet but with the great chocolates from Southwest Candy, I am going to leave some treats around for everyone to enjoy!  Maybe some Andes Creme de Menthe, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Charelston Chews for those of us who remember the 70's!  And I can have a lot of fun with our Orange Whirly Pops and Brown Whirly Pops!  Maybe use them on the plates or with the napkin holders.  Lots to think about!  But I know everyone will be very happy with whatever I choose!

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!  It's never to early to start planning for your own family feast!
