With Valentine's Day just around the corner I was wondering if I was going to feel guilty diving into my favorite chocolates, but it turns out that Chocolate is actually good for you! Now, I have heard this before but I did a bit of research to find out exactly why we can say that Chocolate is good for us! Here are a few highlights of what I found out!
**Most of the health benefits claimed for dark chocolate relate to cardiovascular disease. Dark chocolateis packed with flavonoids, a group of phytochemicals that act as antioxidants. When comparing the antioxidant content of foods gram for gram, cocoa often ranks among the highest. And research shows that consuming chocolate increases the antioxidants in our blood.
**A steady stream of population and lab studies link eating chocolate in moderation with heart health, including improving blood vessel function and lowering blood pressure.
**Scientists are reporting discovery of how chocolateboosts the body's production of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) — the "good" form of cholesterol that protects against heart disease.
