 It’s time for rainbows, gold coins, shamrocks, corned beef,
and green beer! HOWEVER, let’s not forget the candy! At Southwest Candy, we never forget the candy! And our amazing selection of St. Patrick’s Day candy is hard to pass up!
We have also been looking for a lot of different ways to decorate and we came up with a really fun rainbow of candy colors for your decorations.
We used 1 lb of sixlets, 1 lb honeycombs, 1 lb of sanded lemon candies
and topped it all off with 1 lb of blue mints! But if you’re not into that kind of rainbow you could always try the licorice .
If you’re looking for the pot of chocolate gold for the end of that rainbow, we definitely have that too! Gold coins, chocolate Tootsie Rolls, Gold Sixlet Chocolate Balls, Werther’s candy in metallic gold wrappers! The list goes on and on! Check us out!

I love this time of the year! It brings me back to the east with
falling leaves, the smell of fires burning at night in the cool air, hot cocoa,
or hot apple cider, pumpkins, family dinners, college football games, sweatshirts,
warm fuzzy socks. It is all such great memories that I could never forget. I’m
starting to plan for the family feast “Thanksgiving” and that means I
get to have some fun in the kitchen and enjoy it! Homemade this and that,
cookies, pies, treats, breads, to fill the kitchen up with all the recipe articles
that I have been ripping out from the tons of magazines that I have been saving.
Thinking, “I could make that”, “that looks pretty simple and
sweet”
ok so I’m no Martha Stewart but I’m definitely going to give it the
ole college try! So now I have to find that darn apron, I have to at least look
the part!

Close your eyes and imagine a place where you can sample all the candy you want, AND go home with a bag of candy that you can fill until you can't fit anymore- welcome to Chicago's All Candy Expo. Its new name, is The Sweets & Snacks Expo- I guess they have expanded beyond just candy these days. Perhaps it is a way of giving savory treats some publicity? I'm down with that- salty foods need props too.
All the big name brands (to name a few): Jelly Belly, Tootsie Roll, Wrigley, Nestle, Hershey, Spangler, Charms, Brach, Farley & Sathers- they will all be there ready to impress the distributors with mouth-watering new candy lines. I remember going there as a kid and I was so excited to sample Reeses' Nutrageous before it even set foot out on the market!
So if you are a bulk candy/snacks distributor, a vending machine owner, or you're just plain lucky enough to get hooked up with a pass to go to the show, here is some advice before you go:
1- If you are a diabetic, bring some insulin!
2- Eat your protein for breakfast because it is carbohydrate city once you walk through the doors!
3- It wouldn't hurt to get in an early workout prior to going- it'll make you feel less guilty when you go home with a belly ache.
4- Bring a Tide Pen. You might get a chocolate stain on your clothes from sampling!
5- Bring the largest purse you have in your closet- might I recommend a Louis Vuitton Speedy 35?

In an attempt to learn new recipes and have an excuse to get together with friends, we decided to put together some themed dinner parties. We are only on dinner party #2 but hey, we are all trying our best! This weekend I am hosting a Mardi Gras themed party! And don't ask me where I got all the authentic Mardi Gras beads:)
I am looking around our amazing candy here at Southwest Candy and came up with a few ideas to bring some sparkle and color to the table!
I am going to put out some Werther's Original Butter Toffe candy! It is wrapped in gold colored wrappers and will look so cool on the table in bowls or just spread out in between the dishes.
I also like the Foil Wrapped Assorted Fruit Disks. The colors are perfect for my theme!
For lollipops I can choose exactly the color I want with Primrose Jolly Pops! The grape, lemon, and lime are going to add the perfect punch of color all over the house! I am so excited!!
Get together with friends, cook, eat, drink and be merry! But don't forget the candy!

Yes, it is that time of year again! Time to place your bets and see who is going to take home that amazing golden statue! Will it be one of your favorite stars or movies? It would be much more fun to find out while throwing an amazing Oscar Party! I just went to a birthday party with a "Celebrity" theme and it was a blast! I think with a few minor changes it would be great for an Oscar Party too!
If you want to go all out then ask your guests to dress as their favorite actor/actress! It is hilarious to see who everyone picks and how they channel the stars style!
Every star needs a red carpet! Lay one out on your walkway and put some gold stars with your friends names on them along the way to your front door! Keep the stars going by hanging them all over the house! Add some twinkle lights and everyone will feel like a STAR!
