Parents! Let me shout that again, PARENTS!! Are you so tired of wasting your money on going out to dinner with your kids, and hoping for the small possibility of a semi-enjoyable evening?
You are not asking for the moon and stars. You just want to eat somewhere other than your kitchen or backyard, right? You want someone else to do the cooking for you, right? Yet, the fear that builds up inside of you as you enter the confinds of a, dare I say it, RESTAURANT, can be so overwhelming you ask yourself, “Why, oh why do I bother?”
Let us help you! We are mothers over here at Southwest Candy. We are also women who want to DINE OUT for goodness sake! Husbands hear our cries! We have solved the problem for you! ENTER…. THE LOLLIPOP!
Viewing Exhibit A:
Here sits a darling little girl. Gorgeous big brown eyes hypnotizing anyone who comes into contact with her. She smiles- even more intoxicating. Now you are under her spell. You are getting messages to the brain saying, “I am adorable. I am a good girl. Please take me out and show me off. I promise I will behave. You KNOW you want to get out of the house!”
You are suddenly taken over by these hypnotic messages. You round up the troops, call your husband to meet you at the restaurant, and BAM! You find yourself in a panic as the kids become restless, and those damn crayons and coloring pages are not entertaining anyone but the other customers who were hit in the back of the head with them.
Suddenly, you remember your secret weapon. You ordered from Southwest Candy, and you armed yourself with LOLLIPOPS! Mini Tootsie Pops, Dum Dums, Charms Mini Pops, and even Dr. John’s Sugar Free Lollpops are all options for you- you have a very large purse! Just as the waitress carries over your glass of chardonnay, you pop a lollipop in each childs’ mouth. Ahhh….. cocktails and dreams baby!
Viewing Exhibit B:
Did someone say, “Road Trip?” In the past, they may have been a pipe dream for you and your screaming family of hellions. UNTIL NOW. Tootsie Pops, Blow Pops, Caramel Apple Pops, Big Slice Pops, heck, give Whirly Pops a shot! These are all lollipops that last, and last, and last. Great for road trips when your kids are constantly asking, “Are we there yet?”
Step one- use them as a prize. “If you behave until we get to grandma’s house, you get a lollipop!”
Step two- use them as a threat. “Oh no, you are not going to get your lollipop if you keep it up!”
Step three- use as a muzzle. “Put this in your mouth, and I don’t want to hear a word until we get to grandma’s!”
Let Southwest Candy help you manage your children. We understand what it takes to have peace, quiet, and sanity. Do not underestimate the power of being the mom with a lollipop in her purse. YOU are in control. YOU are the boss. YOUR children will LISTEN!

Your wedding day is just around the corner, the final touches have to be in place. After all, it's the one day where you get to celebrate a union that is meant to last the rest of your life. Sharing this occasion with family and friends allows them to join in the joy that the happy couple is feeling.
We all want our weddings to be incredibly memorable and to ensure that happens one inexpensive and effective way to leave a lasting impression of your shared joy with your guests is with a wedding candy bar/station.
This is a great idea for guests is to be able to create their own sweet treat. With decorative glass bowls or standing apothecary jars, you can have many different types of chocolates or sweets designed for the day. This gives the guest an opportunity to create some sweet fun and leave the celebration with tasty treat

What is Thanksgiving time like at your house? Well, I'm happy to say that I just learned my husbands favorite holiday is Thanksgiving at my parents house! I was very happy and shocked to hear that actually. But as I started thinking about it we do have a pretty fun Turkey Day every year!
Last year it was even better when my sister came up with the brilliant idea to get a bouncy house for all the kids! That kept them busy and happy while we got everything ready for the big feast! So while the kids are bouncing and the mom's are cooking….the husband's are watching football and snacking on yummy appitizers scattered around the house! It really isn't a sexist thing…our husbands are just not allowed in the kitchen after an incident a few years ago:) So I guess that is why my husband loves Thanksgiving so much at my parents house. It's simply all about yummy food, football and family!
This year I am going to sweeten the deal with some special candy for the occassion! They don't know it yet but with the great chocolates from Southwest Candy, I am going to leave some treats around for everyone to enjoy! Maybe some Andes Creme de Menthe, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Charelston Chews for those of us who remember the 70's! And I can have a lot of fun with our Orange Whirly Pops and Brown Whirly Pops! Maybe use them on the plates or with the napkin holders. Lots to think about! But I know everyone will be very happy with whatever I choose!
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone! It's never to early to start planning for your own family feast!

Whirly Pops are very popular these days. Photographers, school fundraisers, and party planners are doing their research to find the best bargain on these bulk old fashioned lollipops. At Southwest Candy, you can purchase them for only$1.40 each. Order as little as 20 pieces, or order a full case of 60 pieces. You will find it difficult to beat our online pricing.
First- size matters. You know you are getting a 1.5oz lollipop with a 3-inch diameter lollipop head and its total length being 7inches long when you include the stick. This is a great size to use as a party favor, place setting, or bunch a few together to make a lollipop bouquet.
Color coordinate! So many colors to choose from- which is why Whirly pops are great for baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, and corporate events. Just the other day a company showcasing their tent at The Race for the Cure purchased our Pink and White Whirly Pops.
Taste is unexpected! Think you know what each color's flavor is? We thought we did until we did our research….
Pink and White – Bubble Gum
Blue and White – Blue Raspberry
Purple and White – Grape
Green and White – Apple
Red and White – Cherry
Orange and White – Orange
Brown and White – Root Beer
Black and White – Marshmallow

Close your eyes and imagine a place where you can sample all the candy you want, AND go home with a bag of candy that you can fill until you can't fit anymore- welcome to Chicago's All Candy Expo. Its new name, is The Sweets & Snacks Expo- I guess they have expanded beyond just candy these days. Perhaps it is a way of giving savory treats some publicity? I'm down with that- salty foods need props too.
All the big name brands (to name a few): Jelly Belly, Tootsie Roll, Wrigley, Nestle, Hershey, Spangler, Charms, Brach, Farley & Sathers- they will all be there ready to impress the distributors with mouth-watering new candy lines. I remember going there as a kid and I was so excited to sample Reeses' Nutrageous before it even set foot out on the market!
So if you are a bulk candy/snacks distributor, a vending machine owner, or you're just plain lucky enough to get hooked up with a pass to go to the show, here is some advice before you go:
1- If you are a diabetic, bring some insulin!
2- Eat your protein for breakfast because it is carbohydrate city once you walk through the doors!
3- It wouldn't hurt to get in an early workout prior to going- it'll make you feel less guilty when you go home with a belly ache.
4- Bring a Tide Pen. You might get a chocolate stain on your clothes from sampling!
5- Bring the largest purse you have in your closet- might I recommend a Louis Vuitton Speedy 35?
